As a kid I used to dream about being a football player, but, as it happens to many of us, prejudices stopped me. It was only in my forties that I was able to start learning the basics, thanks to a trans team that took me in and encouraged me. Joining a trans football team is more than just playing: it's a way to fight for inclusion and a refuge for trans and non-binary people, who are often marginalized in other places.
Our presence and visibility challenge stereotypes and foster diversity, inspiring others to join into the fight for inclusion. By combining passion for football and a search for equality, trans teams play a vital role in the transformation of society. In a country where every day people are killed because of their gender identity, we're proving that sports can become a safe environment.
