To me, Roller Derby is much more than just a sport. It's somewhere I can constantly find myself, free from all limitations –somewhere I'm accepted for who I truly am. It's our fort, somewhere we can express ourselves. There's no room for fear here. We're a very tightly-knit team, a close family. We improve together, at learner's pace, so no one gets left behind. Each training and each bout is a duel in which competition goes hand in hand with solidarity. Together we learn to handle stress and anger and, despite all exhaustion, we always find room for laughter. Committing to Roller Derby is choosing to improve yourself year after year. And believe me, every drop of sweat is worth it.
